VP Racing and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta Launch Hurricane Relief Effort
DEDICATE WORLD’S BIGGEST MAD SCIENTIST BOBBLEHEAD
VP Racing Fuels, Inc., the global leader in performance fuels, lubricants, and additives, and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta announced today that they will launch a hurricane relief effort this weekend at the raceway. They will also dedicate the world’s largest Mad Scientist® bobblehead and kick off VP Racing’s 2025 50th-anniversary during Motul Petit Le Mans October 9-12 in Braselton, GA.
"VP Racing and its employees want to do their part for the victims of the disastrous Hurricane Helene. We can’t think of a better time than as we dedicate our Mad Scientist 17-foot bobblehead at world-famous Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta during Petit Le Mans,” said Alan Cerwick, President & CEO of VP Racing. “VP’s Mad Scientist has been Makin’ Power® since 1975 and has been a part of Michelin Raceway’s storied legacy for many years. There is no better place on earth for the Mad Scientist to call home, and we hope this event will bring greater attention to the need for relief for the victims of this tragic hurricane.”
During the Motul Petit Le Mans racing weekend, VP Racing will accept fans’ donations at its display in the Michelin Raceway Fan Zone. While supplies last, fans will receive a free Mad Scientist Koozie® for each donation. Also, Michelin Raceway will be accepting a variety of relief donations at the information tents throughout the track grounds for immediate distribution.
“Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta is heartbroken by the devastation of Hurricane Helene in our region, including right here in Georgia,” said Rick Humphrey, President and General Manager of Michelin Raceway. “We want to do our part to relieve the human burden this storm has had on our community.”
Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta has made an indelible, global impression on the world of racing. Following its inaugural race on September 13, 1970, the track has grown to host some of the most storied races in several circuits, including Drift Atlanta, The HSR Mitty, and, of course, the premier Motul Petit Le Mans. The weekend of Motul Petit Le Mans 2024 will once again deliver one of the world’s most exciting and challenging sports car endurance races to an audience of global fans, as well as serve as the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season finale.
“VP Racing has been an industry leader in racing around the world for nearly 50 years, including as the Official Fuel of Motul Petit Le Mans,” added Humphrey. “Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta is honored to have our raceway chosen as home to the Mad Scientist and join with VP in this critical relief effort for the victims of the hurricane.”
The Mad Scientist bobblehead is 17 feet tall, making it taller than the current bobblehead world record book holder, but VP prefers to leave the records to the racers who use its world-class fuels around the globe. VP’s fans have made the Mad Scientist a legend by collecting Mad Scientist bobbleheads in the slightly smaller 7 ½ -inch size available on VP’s website and trackside. This smaller Mad Scientist bobblehead will be available for purchase in the Michelin Raceway Fan Zone at the VP Racing merchandise display.
Fans are invited to the Mad Scientist dedication celebration on Friday, October 11, at 10 a.m. at the Michelin Raceway Fan Zone before enjoying day three of Motul Petit Le Mans.
