BMW To Serve As Official Pace Car for 21st Annual Motul Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta

BRASELTON, Ga. (October 5, 2018) – BMW of North America, with Southern regional headquarters located due north of downtown Atlanta, has established a partnership with Road Atlanta to serve as the Official Pace Car and Safety Car of the 21st Annual Motul Petit Le Mans, Oct. 10-13.

BMW of North America is supplying a BMW M850i xDrive as the Pace Car and a BMW M5 as the Safety Car for the event, which will pace the field of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competitors in the season finale showdown for 10 hours on Saturday, Oct. 13. In addition, fans can explore BMW’s product line at their display in the Fan Zone throughout the four-day festival.

Motul Petit Le Mans Kickoff Party

Join us at Suwanee Town Center on Tuesday, October 9th from 6-8pm for the Motul Petit Le Mans Kickoff Party, hosted by Road Atlanta. Get an exclusive opportunity to hang with your favorite IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge drivers at the autograph session, get involved in a Fan Forum with some of the series’ top drivers, score some IMSA and Road Atlanta swag, and have your shot at winning tickets to the race! You can also check out a live pit stop demonstration and get up close and personal with the race cars, all to the sounds of a live DJ in the park.

21st Annual Motul Petit Le Mans Grand Marshal Contest

Dr. Don Panoz will be remembered within the racing community as a visionary champion of our sport, the founder of one of the greatest endurance races of all time —Petit Le Mans, and the savior for Road Atlanta when it was in a desperate time of need. Most importantly, he recognized that without the fans, none of his efforts would work.

We are quickly approaching the 21st running of the Motul Petit Le Mans, sadly our very first without “Dr. P” as he was affectionately known. He built this event and revived this racetrack for you, the fans, enabling all of us to witness the incredible spectacle of sports car endurance racing that he fell so deeply in love with. This is a legacy we are committed to continuing, so we want to give this opportunity back to you, our fans, in his honor.
